“We said if we were having coffee, we should have baked goods, if we have baked goods we should have eggs, if we have eggs we should have salads,” Noorily said. “We kind of evolved.”
The product is The Granola Bar, a new full-service eatery located at the top of Greenwich Avenue. Sitting in their space before the opening, Mountain and Noorily said they saw the need for a restaurant focusing on meals other than dinner.
“We’re foodies and we truly love to feed people,” Noorily told the Daily Voice. “Julie and I felt like there was a void in the breakfast and lunch market.”
The restaurant serves a full menu ranging from avocado grilled cheese to mint macha as well as traditional favorites like bacon, egg & cheese.
“We’re taking foods that you’re used to — the bacon egg and cheese or the yogurt parfait —and making them with the best ingredients, locally sourced, organic and making them beautiful and elevated and creating a real dining experience that you would have at dinner just at breakfast and lunch,” Mountain said.
The duo decided to name the restaurant The Granola Bar after the granola, of course, but the space also contains a bar where diners can sit.
Some people who hear of the restaurant’s name may think The Granola Bar serves only granola, but Mountain and Noorily are fine with exceeding expectations.
“I think a lot of people think that when they first hear about it, but we don’t mind surprising them,” Mountain said.
Greenwich’s Granola Bar is set to open May 27, but the duo's first restaurant is open in Westport at 275 Post Road E. The Greenwich location will soon open its doors at 41 Greenwich Ave.
